  Work in Progress: First Two Sessions Revealed! 

The Red Turtle and The Boy and the Beast will be deciphered during Work in Progress sessions at Annecy 2015.

Annecy unveils two of the Work in Progress sessions that will take place at this year's Festival as a part of the Meetings.

The Red Turtle by Michaël Dudok de Wit
Michaël Dudok de Wit will present his first feature The Red Turtle, expected to hit theatres early 2016. The Dutch animator will unravel the directing process for his film illustrating the key stages in a human being's life.

Michaël Dudok de Wit is a regular at the Annecy Festival, already having earned awards for two of his shorts:

  • Father and Daughter: Grand Prix for Best Short Film and Audience Award at Annecy 2001, as well as the Oscar for Best Animated Short Film in 2000
  • The Monk and the Fish: Special Mention for Artistic Quality at Annecy 1995 and the César for Best Short Film in 1996

The Boy and the Beast by Mamoru Hosoda
Seiji Okuda will present his latest production in the making, The Boy and the Beast (working title), directed by the distinguished Japanese animator Mamoru Hosoda.

Producer Seiji Okuda will talk about this feature, scheduled for release in Japan in July 2015 and in France the 23rd December 2015, that explores the relationships between parents and their children.

The film's director, Mamoru Hosoda, is the mastermind behind several big hits:

  • The Girl Who Leapt Through Time: Special Mention for a Feature Film at Annecy 2007
  • Summer Wars: official selection at Annecy 2010
  • Wolf Children: open-air screening at Annecy 2013

These first two Work in Progress sessions are setting the tone for the Meetings at Annecy 2015, promising plenty delightful discoveries!
